Experimental films in Taiwan started around 1960. Many artists found a connection with Dadaism or Surrealism, which opened a ray of hope for young students who had been oppressed by political history for a long time. They had also hoped to rebel against traditional aesthetics, breaking with traditions, and embracing modern art practices from across the world. With continuous breakthroughs in technology, coupled with the accessibility of equipment, many young Taiwanese artists have also joined the ranks of experimental filmmakers in recent years.

This event, a partnership between LA Filmforum and TAP-LA, showcases the dynamic work of 6 leading artists from Taiwan working in the experimental film and video medium. Come see their unique visions and break your own preconceptions of what film and video can do!

Please purchase tickets here:

Doors open at 7 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm and ends about 9:30 pm. There will be a Q & A with the artists. For questions contact George Yin at george.yin@tap-la.org
